We’ve just reported that Android 2.2 has been over-the-air updated to the Sprint Epic 4G. Until now, users not receiving the update yet have been out of luck. Below, we’ve uploaded an update.zip to allow you to install Android 2.2.1 Froyo on your Epic 4G. Go ahead and push the file to your internal SD card. From there you can flash the file in recovery mode.
Instructions: Update Android 2.2 Froyo for Epic 4G
Intended for those going from stock Android 2.1 to the latest firmware.
  1. Download the required update.zip file
  2. RENAME the file to “update.zip” (If you get an error while flashing, your file might accidentally be named “update.zip.zip” due to Windows’ file renaming system. Simply rename it to “update” to make it update.zip and flash)
  3. Move the file to your storage on the Epic 4G (Mount USB storage and drag the update.zip into root folder)
