Google has started rolling out the official Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update for the Nexus One. It should hit your device in couple of days. But if you can't wait, I suggest you do manual update by following the steps below.
MANUAL UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

2. Connect your Nexus One to computer via USB cable.
3. Copy the update.zip to phone’s internal SD Card at root level. Don’t unzip the contents.
4. Disconnect USB connection and power off the phone.
5. Reboot the phone into ‘Recovery mode’. To do it, press and hold “Volume Down” key and “Power” button simultaneously for few seconds and release it.
6. In the Recovery mode, use volume button to navigate through “Recovery” and press “Power” button to select it.
7. You will see the “!” symbol. Then hold the “Power” button and then press the “Volume Up” button.
